    Title:
Amazon Women on the Moon (Original production plan binder for the 1987 film)
    Publication:
    Los Angeles: Untitled Productions, 1985
    Description:
Production plan binder for the 1987 film, dated November 1, 1985, with annotation, in holograph ink, of copy number "13" on title page, here under the working title "Untitled." Housed in a green three-ring binder, the production plan includes story boards, schedules, days out of days, set renderings, vernacular location photographs, and production accounting reports. Annotations in holograph ink, marker, and highlighter on several pages, of dates, revisions, call-outs, "file copy," and "master copy." Laid in is a second copy of the 19 page story board of the central movie-in-a-movie, which is also bound in, in archival sleeves.
The production plan, assembled for Universal Pictures executives by producer Robert K. Weiss, is divided into four sections, schedule, budget, art department, and production accounting, and features an abundance of documents. Among those included is a 58 x 11 inch fold-out breakdown sheet, annotated in holograph marker, pen, and four color highlighters, seven days out of days 15.5 x 11 inch fold-outs, twelve blueprint set illustrations fold-outs ranging from 17.75 x 11 inches to 21.5 x 11 inches, two blueprint set diagram fold-outs (27 x 11 and 32 x 11 inches), three 7.5 x 10 inch illustrated overlays over location photographs, eight vernacular location photographs (one of which is two combined location photographs), and a 19 page story board illustration of the central movie-in-a-movie.
A formatted anthology comedy that is a sort of 1980s cousin to "The Groove Tube" (1974) and "Kentucky Fried Movie" (1977), this anthology parodying late-night cable television viewing, featuring 21 comedy skits, an enormous ensemble cast, and five directors, with the central movie-in-a-movie being a spoof of a 1950s science fiction film, "Amazon Women on the Moon."
A sequel, of sorts, to John Landis' 1977 sketch comedy anthology "The Kentucky Fried Movie," starring Donald Sutherland, Henry Gibson, and Bill Bixby.
Shot on location in Los Angeles and Agua Dulce, California.
Title page present, dated November 1, 1985, noted as Stage II: Production Plan, Draft Version 1.0, with credits for screenwriters Michael Barrie and Jim Mulholland. 137 leaves, with last page of text numbered 4.28. Xerographic duplication, rectos only (with the exception of two pages of vernacular location photos on recto and verso, and bound in "Tentative Storyboard," which has eight pages recto and verso). Pages, with title page separated at ring holes, else Near Fine. Binder 10.75 x 11.5 inches. Near Fine.
