Draft script for the 1975 film. Bound presentation script belonging to producer Howard Pine with his named embossed on the front board. With annotations in holograph pencil and ink throughout.
A sequel to the 1968 film "Funny Girl," this is a fictionalized account of singer Fanny Brice and her marriage to impresario Billy Rose. The final project of cinematographer James Wong Howe, who came out of retirement to work on the film and received an Academy Award nomination for his efforts. Nominated for five Academy Awards.
Brice worked in show business as an illustrated song model, comedian, burlesque dancer, theatre and film actress from 1908 until her death in 1951. Her biggest claim to fame was the top-rated radio comedy show "The Baby Snooks Show." She was married three separate times, the final time in 1929 to Billy Rose, who was a songwriter, impresario and showman, a major force in entertainment for many decades. Their marriage eventually failed and Brice sued Rose for divorce in 1938.
Set in New York, shot on location in California and New Jersey.
Green titled wrappers, noted as Fourth Draft on the front wrapper, dated March 7, 1974, with credits for screenwriter Jay Presson Allen. 122 leaves, with last page of text numbered 116. Mechanical duplication, with blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between March 15, 1974 and March 28, 1974. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Near Fine housed in a tan spring binder.
