Antique Old Town Wood & Canvas 17-Foot Canoe - Renovated

Description

110 years ago, in June 1911, this classic wood canvas canoe took shape in the factory of Old Town Canoe Co in Old Town, Maine. It was ordered by Phil Benton of Warren, OH, and delivered in mid-July, 1911. This is the Charles River model, 17-feet long, and Grade C.S. It was originally dark green in color. Canoe number "18121" is stamped on the bottom of the canoe. Weighs about 70 pounds.
The canoe appears to be in great shape structurally and can go in the water as is without any problems. You'll note that the hull has been fiberglassed and the seat caning has been replaced by modern polypropylene webbing. Everything else looks original, albeit painted or sealed, including the planking, gunwales, seats and thwarts, keel and decks.
