    Description

Beautiful, 89 year old canoe. Needs some repair work, but could be fully-restored. First photo is from a few years ago, and the rest are recently taken of areas needing repair (noted below). Old Town Canoe Serial # 110879 from 1932(*) - 17 ft HW model with sponsons built in CS (Common Sense) grade with ash decks, seats and thwarts. The following repairs are needed: - hole on one side (see pictures) - it was re-canvassed in the 1960's - gunwale strips need replacing - both bow & stern tips need some repairs - original seat caning was replaced with what looks to be covered wire, so would probably want to replace that Factory record shows it was shipped to Bambergers (later Macy's) Department Store in Newark NJ on April 13, 1932 The Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) provided the following history for this canoe: "Old Town #110879 is a 17' HW model built in CS (Common Sense) grade with ash decks, seats and thwarts. It did have sponsons. It's original color was maroon. It was delivered to Newark, NJ in April of 1932, returned to the factory for repairs in early winter of 1933. There is no indication of what the damage was, but it apparently involved recanvassing, since there are notations about filling on the back of the record. "
